The place where I conducted the internship was a small company called J4D. Like other advertising companies, J4D was a company that designed advertisements for clients' specific needs or requests. We worked together as a team with one set of values called “We make big waves.” This means that the advertisements we make cause big waves and make a difference in the world. My direct supervisor was the CEO of J4D. He provided me with enough opportunities to learn the overall company flow and work so that I could adapt well to the company, and those efforts made me able to complete a successful internship thanks to him. When searching for a summer internship in the United States, I knew I was going to be staying in North Carolina. I was looking to work for a marketing agency, so I found one in the area and applied to Wray Ward’s FORM internship. FORM is a paid, 10-week, full-time summer internship where you’ll work on real projects with eight other interns. I was accepted into the program and I had a great host family let me stay with them for the duration of the internship.  Wray Ward is a full-service agency creating inspired marketing solutions for brands in the home and building categories based in Charlotte, NC. This past summer I interned at One House Design. I found this internship opportunity through a connection my father (who is also an architect) has and because it is local to my area. One House Design is an interior design company, with both an Interior Finish Department and Furnishing Department. I worked in the Interior Finish Department where they mostly worked on drawing floor plans, 3D modeling, rendering, using Photoshop, and creating construction drawings. My supervisor was the supervisor of the entire department and would mostly check the drawings others and myself made. For my own responsibilities and projects, I mostly worked on floor plans and rendering models which I felt really helped hone my architectural skills. My four week internship at Baremetalco was exciting and fulfilling. I wanted to further build on my metalworking skills I learned at MICA, so over the summer I wanted to work at a metal shop. Since I was heading back home to Singapore, I decided to reach out to Baremetalco through social media and was accepted as their first intern. Baremetalco is one of the few companies in Singapore specializing in sheet metal fabrication. The company fabricates a variety of steel, stainless steel, and aluminum products such as railings and postal boxes. They also often fabricate metal sculptures for local artists in Singapore. At Baremetalco, I worked directly with the second-generation owner of the company. They are currently rebranding the company and expanding its focus from fabrication to design and innovation. I had my first internship in the US this summer, and it turned out to be one of the best  experiences in my design learning. Instead of being like an internship, Wix Design Playground is  more like an academy of website design and project management. It is affiliated to  Wix.com, who attribute their expertise and powers to help and educate the young  designers.  I learned the information about this program through the MICA Career Fair. Vuong, the head  of Wix Design Playground, visited MICA and had a brief interview with me. Afterward, I  had one more online interview with another program leader before I was accepted . This 7-hour a day, 5-day a week for 3 months program is actually a little bit heavy for the summer, however, I enjoy the intensity and am very satisfied with what I acquired. During the Summer of 2018, I was a graphic design intern for Paperwhite Studio , a design and  branding company in Brooklyn, New York. As a Graphic Design MFA student at MICA, I have a  strong interest in identity design and packaging, especially in the food industry. Thus, while  searching for an internship for the summer, I specifically looked for studios that have done  projects in this food-GD area. Paperwhite is prestigious in the industry of restaurant/cafe branding and food packaging, and  also famous for helping small restaurants explode in popularity thanks to a strong conceptual  and carefully crafted design that connected with their audience. I had an amazing summer at Gretel , a design studio in New York City. As I prepare for a  career in graphic design, I am dedicated to gaining practical experience to complement  my academics. I had always hoped to immerse myself in a studio culture and  collaborate with creative people from different disciplines. After the spring break, I  found Gretel on imageofthestudio.com and looked through the works on their website.  I loved the use of bold typography in their visual designs and their creative motion  works. I’m Juliette Wang, a rising senior Graphic Design student. For 2018’s summer, I was a Design Intern for Studio Rodrigo , a product design agency based in New York. They produce various work from products, marketing websites to branding; clients include Adobe, This American Life, Serial Podcast, Comcast, ABC News, xfinity, and more. Studio Rodrigo is most focused in helping companies identity and evaluate product opportunities, developing strategies, and designing and bringing new products and services to market. I am Sumangla Bishnoi, a graphic design student doing my MFA at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, MD. During the summer of 2018, I was interning with WWP multinational branding company named Landor . Landor is a brand consulting and designing firm with more than 25 offices around the world. I interned at their San Francisco office . This office is full with strategic experts and creative explorers. To get this internship I messaged HR head of Landor, Missy Lavoy on Linkden. As I had a premium account, my mail for application went directly to her gmail account and then she connected me to the creative director of Landor, San Francisco, Thomas Hutchings.
