This fall, I had the incredible opportunity to intern at Pazo Fine Art, a leading contemporary art gallery in the Washington metropolitan area. I discovered this opportunity through my program director, who encouraged me to reach out to the gallery’s owner and director. From the very beginning, the owner was warm, welcoming, and supportive, setting the tone for an enriching and inspiring experience.
Pazo Fine Art, founded in 2020, has quickly established itself as a dynamic presence in the art world. With locations in Kensington, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.'s historic U Street corridor, the
gallery is dedicated to showcasing innovative exhibitions across
various media while amplifying the voices of underrepresented
artists. Under the owners thoughtful leadership, the gallery
explores influential movements like Neo-Geo, Color Field, and
Light and Space, blending historical reevaluation with contemporary abstraction. I was particularly inspired by the gallery's commitment
to creating exhibition publications, which serve as vital tools for documenting and preserving the narratives of the artists and their works.
During my internship, I reported directly to the owner, whose mentorship and guidance were invaluable. One of my primary responsibilities was serving as the artist liaison for three talented artists. I conducted background research for upcoming exhibitions, which deepened my understanding of both the creative and logistical processes that drive the art world. My proudest accomplishment was my work with a gifted clay artist. I not only supported her at events but also had the privilege of helping her articulate her career goals. Our collaboration was deeply fulfilling and underscored my passion for fostering meaningful connections with artists.

This experience was transformative for me, both personally and professionally. I discovered that I thrive as an artist liaison—a role that combines my love for art with my ability to connect with others on a deeper level. I also gained a clearer understanding of the art market and the intricacies of running a gallery, from curating exhibitions to fostering relationships within the community. Thanks to the owners' generosity and mentorship, I left this internship with newfound confidence, valuable skills, and a clear vision for my future. After graduation, I plan to pursue a career as an artist liaison, where I can continue to support and empower artists while contributing to the vibrant art community. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity and for the kindness and knowledge shared by everyone at Pazo Fine Art.
