Laloupe Design // Graphic Design Internship

Design Internship at La Loupe Design

I learned about this internship program from a friend's referral. While visiting several internship sites, I selected La Loupe Design as most appropriate for my academic endeavors and personal interests. I acquired the internship by emphasizing my professional skills and design capabilities throughout the application process, ultimately getting the opportunity to work with them.

La Loupe Design is a husband-and-wife studio based in Baltimore. They produce handmade home decor and interior lighting products combining artistic craftsmanship with useful design. They're offering for customers who want personal and thoughtful home decor.

During my internship, I was primarily assigned to design the studio's brand identity. This involved updating their website design, producing a catalog book, and producing product photography and videos. These projects aimed to elevate their visual communication and strengthen their market presence. And among all of them, I am most proud of the catalog book project. I developed a layout design that seamlessly aligned with La Loupe Design’s aesthetic style and personally photographed the majority of the content included in the book. This project allowed me to combine my design skills with practical execution, resulting in a polished and professional final product.

My biggest takeaway was gaining hands-on experience in graphic design within a real-world professional context. This internship provided me with valuable insights into the practical challenges and creative opportunities faced by design studios. Most importantly, I learned to adopt a client-centered design approach. Understanding and prioritizing client needs while maintaining artistic integrity is essential for creating successful and meaningful design solutions.

One of the key technical skills I acquired was SEO image naming, which helps improve online visibility and organizational efficiency. Additionally, I strengthened my abilities in layout design, photography, and video production. This experience has reinforced my ambition to eventually open my own design studio. It provided me with firsthand exposure to the challenges and solutions involved in running a creative business, from client management to brand development.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have interned at La Loupe Design and would like to thank both the organization and my academic department for their support. This experience has been instrumental in my professional growth and has further solidified my passion for graphic design.
