My name is
Vlada Dyecheva and I am a junior Film and Video major. During the Summer of
2017, I was a social media specialist and producer for Eyesore Productions in
Baltimore, Maryland. I was always interested in mass media communications and
wanted to explore a management role for an independent filmmaker in the area. I
discovered Eyesore Productions through MICA Network late May. I reached out to
the filmmaker of the production Charles Cohen to help manage and push forward
his projects. We met in the following weeks to discuss his ongoing work with
various clients, as well as a larger project- Riding Wild documentary.
I began my journey with Eyesore Productions by learning about each projects and doing editing for clients. My first project was a Bob Marley Music Festival documentation of the event while focusing on roots of the annual tradition. Charles remained as my main supervisor and with time I got to meet his producer. We often held conferences where we discussed progress of the Riding Wild documentary, went over editing, and planned the next steps. I was able to concentrate on main motifs and pitch ideas throughout my internship. In between, I managed various social media platforms where I created teasers and ads to build a larger audience and promote Riding Wild documentary. In two months I uploaded content daily and reached over 1,200 followers. I also helped edit some segments of Riding Wild and contribute to creating the main trailer.
My internship with Eyesore Productions made me a lot more focused and independent in my work. I am able to rely on my managing and organizing skills. I improved in my ability to create catchy content while spreading it virally on the internet. Working with Charles Cohen gave me a new perspective. As I move forward with my education at MICA, I am able to focus more on my interest in creating, promoting and marketing in the film world.
